Perspective articles in BMC Biology allow authors to present a particular outlook on a topic of current interest. For example, topics might include emerging models to explain biological phenomena, or viewpoints on how to address challenges in a particular field. Perspective articles should be backed up by a solid grounding in the published literature and are not intended for largely speculative or hypothetical discussions.
